New Report on Hep B in Chinese and Vietnamese populations
New Report available on Hepatitis B knowledge and practices among Chinese and Vietnamese in Brisbane (2009)
Hepatitis B infection is highly prevalent in many parts of the Asia-Pacific region. There
has been a growing concern about the increased rate of chronic hepatitis B infection
among Asian migrants in Australia as well as in many other Western countries.
Strategies suggested for controlling and monitoring the infection have primarily included promoting hepatitis B screening and vaccination in these groups. However, international research has consistently showed low levels of screening and vaccination among these communities, while limited research has been conducted to explore the current situation in Australia.
